The Baby Online Book
Having a baby is one of the most precious things in this world and brings limitless joy to countless families. But, as any new mother will know, the process of looking after one is not necessarily easy, and many may feel trapped and confused as to what to buy, what best to feed the baby and other important factors. And so I’m sure that every mother out there, new or otherwise, will be very happy to know that there is now a ‘guide’ to newborns, The Baby Online Book. Created by Sherri Frushon, it is a must have encyclopaedia that contains information for mothers.
From what we know creating The Baby Online Book was a necessity not a hobby
that became more serious. How did you come up with the idea?
When my own sister and sister in law were expecting for the first time and my daughter for the second time, my sister in law ask me to help her put together some valuable baby information. This was her first child, and like any new mother, she was at a loss as to what she would need, what she needed for herself. After searching on line for 3 weeks, I thought to myself, this is so silly, if I don’t have this sort of time to find this information to help new mothers, those new mothers out there are not being able to find what they need either.
So I decided right then and there that I would deliver what all mothers needed. A book that offers everything and covers everything any mother could possible want or need, with out having to leave the comforts of her own home to find this information. When I was a first time mother 24 years ago, the computer was not even around. I had to get inside my car and drive around trying to find what I needed, when I needed that information or product. In the last few months of my own pregnancy, I couldn’t drive, I had this huge belly and short legs and so it was hard to fit behind the steering wheel of the car. I felt trapped not being able to drive and finish shopping and gathering things I needed for myself and my unborn child. It was a horrible feeling.
The Baby Online Book offers shopping from home, finding information at your finger tips, it’s so much easier to be able to have one book that offers so many resources all in one place. Saving time and money.
The Baby Online Book doesn’t only come in the usual form of a paperback or hardback. Why did you decide to make it an e-book as well?
I wanted to make “The Baby Online Book” as accessable as I could for any mother to use at any time. Now with just a touch of a finger, any mother can find what she is looking for, information, shopping and more. The E-book allows this to take place, each page can be printed off when needed, or the whole book can be downloaded and printed off and personalized as well. The book’s title is “The Baby Online Book,” but there are also quite a few things for mothers in there as well.
What features are included in the book?
Over 130 online mother and baby shops offering all sort of wonderful products, plus a monthly journel for mothers, note pages for moms, 12 month calendar that can be
personalized, what to buy for the baby check list, what to buy for the nursery check list, how to pack a diaper bag, how to travel with baby, how to bath a baby, New
mothers charts to keep track of wet diapers, nursing times or bottle feeding times, immunization chart, mothers support groups, mom clubs, pregnancy due date
calculator, plus more. Time and money saving tips for every mother that is so valuable now a days.
Most people assume that having a baby is an age-old task. Should having a baby really be considered a task? How does your book help put the fun into
motherhood?
Having a baby is a huge event and a happy event, stress should not be a part of having a baby. We have taken the stress out of being able to shop, find information, connect with other mothers from around the world, and share in the event by what the whole book has to offer inside. If a mother is on bed rest, she can use her computer to shop for herself or her baby, set up a whole complete nursery and buy items for herself as well, with out having to worry about venturing outside her house, everything is delivered right to her front door. Any mother can now shop for herself or her baby selecting what they need.
’The Baby Online Book has you and your baby covered from A-Z’. Some might say that that is a pretty inclusive thing to say, we have researched (had a look at)
your book and know you don’t say it lightly. Could you please tell our audience what they can expect from the Book?
The book is set up in alphabetical order, meaning that each shop in the index of the book has a description of what that specific shop has to offer for both mother and baby. I wanted to make sure that everything any baby or mother ever needed was covered from A-Z. So from those apparel item to the zilophone toys, we have included everything in-between for baby and mom.
People buy lots of things for a baby shower, most of which quite easily turn out not to be to the taste of the mum or dad to be, and, next thing you know, the
baby never used it or it’s palmed of to some charity, a personal expression of money and love wasted, so I highly recommend this book. Since it is downloadable do you have a voucher or a gift certificate that would make it easier to give as a gift?
Because The Baby Online Book comes in both spiral bound as well as paper back, there is no need for gift certificates, we have taken the guess work out of the gift giving process. The spiral bound book comes as a complete book and being able to use the book flat on any surface. Because the book is on a spiral bound, the books pages are easier to turn. The paper back book allows the book to be given as a complete gift, easier to wrap.
A lot to do about babies is very sensitive and has the risk of getting into specialist areas, such as medical and health issues. How do you approach these topics? Do you quote or recommend on such issues?
This was a very hot topic because being a mother to 5 children myself, I wanted to give advice and help mothers, but the book is not an advice book, nor does it recommend any kind of treatment for any mother or baby. Instead we offer the tools needed to help all mothers be able to just enjoy their pregnancy and the birth process.
In the modern world, there are many men who stay at home to look after their babies, some very much involved throughout the pregnancy, labour and birth. How would you get them to relate to your book and not feel left out?
I am so glad you asked this question. The Baby Online Book has places inside the book just for fathers, their are special note pages, and of course, the 12 month calendar can be personalized. Any father can print off the ebook and personalize it in any 3 ring binder they wish, using 3 (three) hole-drill paper. Their is a note box on each shopping page to take notes on, plus a check list for what to buy for the nursery, for the baby, how to pack a diaper bag and what to pack for the trip to the hospital for mother and baby. So any father can use the book and help in any of the features and benefits the whole book has to offer. Fathers can personalize the whole book if they wish.
Some parents tend to prefer the traditional method of raising newborn babies, not making use of any of the newest findings such as light emersion. Does your
book advocate any particular method and, if so, which one?
The Baby Online Book is set up, to not support or be bias on one issue or findings. We offer everything to cover everyone needs inside the book giving parents the option of selecting which shops and information they would like to really look at. The index inside the front of the book gives everyone the chance to glance into each shop and what that shop has to offer.
Lastly, you have other books in the pipeline. Could you give us an idea of what they’re about? The Guide To The Terrible Two’s Online or The Guide Toddler
Tantrums Online, what do you think about my suggestions for titles?!
I am so laughing right now…. those titles do hit home. Well actually, our next book, is for fathers.. those that do stay home and tend to the children every single day.
We mothers can relate and fathers feel the same as when we have stayed home to tend after the children. It’s a wonderful time, but stressful as well.
